In the competitive finance sector, efficiency and precision are significantly important. Our client, a Fortune 500 company that is known for its audit and financial services worldwide, is faced with the predicament of streamlining their finance and treasury operations. Their user requirements were getting too complicated and their SAP systems were not equipped with the functionality to accommodate such requirements. LMTEQ’s SAP ABAP experts assisted our client on the GFS Swift Core Finance project to enhance their Finance & Treasury Management systems. Leveraging SAP ABAP, Adobe Forms, and ABAP/HANA, the project focused on developing custom forms and addressing user-specific requirements.
The client’s current user requirements are based on localization, which includes different legal and regulatory requirements, tax, financial reporting, language, and more. The current SAP system is not equipped with the functionality to generate files for various document purposes, including the aforementioned requirements.
Develop custom SAP Adobe forms tailored to specific user requirements and business processes. These forms needed to be dynamic and interactive, capable of adapting based on user inputs and conditions.
Ensure seamless integration of new developments with the existing SAP ABAP and ABAP/HANA systems. This required a thorough understanding of the client’s current architecture and the ability to design solutions that fit within this framework.
Address user-specified requirements and changes promptly and accurately. This included gathering detailed requirements from end users and business teams, assessing the feasibility, and implementing the necessary changes within the given timeframe.
Despite the project objective being clear, the team faced multiple challenges that required practical solutions and expert handling. These challenges were mainly focused on the development and implementation of dynamic Adobe forms and seamless integration with SAP ABAP and ABAP/HANA systems.
To address the challenge of dynamic fields, the team implemented JavaScript within Adobe Forms. This scripting enabled and disabled fields based on real-time user inputs and predefined value conditions. Since it was a custom code, it did not introduce latency, providing a smooth user experience.
To overcome the complexity of dynamic table design, the team opted for Adobe LiveCycle. It allowed our team to create sophisticated layouts. The reason for choosing this tool is that it supports hierarchical form design, allowing our team to manage nested subforms and integrate data layers seamlessly. On top of that, the tool offers dynamic table handling, including interactive features, real-time data binding, and version control, which enhances the user experience.
The team conducted in-depth analysis and testing to ensure compatibility. Custom ABAP code was developed to interface with the HANA database, ensuring efficient data retrieval and processing. Special attention was given to performance optimization, considering the large data volumes and complex transactions handled by the client.
To address caching issues, the team fine-tuned cache settings and implemented cache refresh strategies. This involved configuring cache mechanisms such as custom code like, FM IQS1_REFRESH_ALL to ensure data accuracy and consistency, and regularly updating cached data to reflect the most current information.
Detailed discussions with the business team and end users were conducted to fully understand complex business requirements. The team translated these requirements into precise technical specifications and implemented the necessary logic using ABAP and JavaScript, followed by rigorous validation to ensure accuracy.
